Just Be Me

I’d like to welcome my good friend and guest writer Michelle McLeod! It’s a pleasure to have her along with us on this “life” journey and look forward to hearing her words of wisdom and insight to be shared with all our follow travellers! Thanks for your gifts and contributions! Jim x

Just Be Me by Michelle McLeod

This is the beginning of a new adventure for me. My first ever blog!
I’m excited and also a little anxious if the truth is known. Where to start? I rattled my brain for some clever introduction that would make a good first impression. I browsed through some bits and pieces I’ve already written in search of that perfect opening, something that would define me and who I am.

That was when I stopped to think that perhaps not being able to define who I am so easily is a good thing. In todays society so many of us are labelled to be one thing or another and we all too often associate with these labels, believing that is who we are. This kind of closed mind thinking limits our full potential to be all we can be.

We believe we are one thing therefore we miss so many opportunities in life because we have narrowed our vision and only see what we relate ourselves to be. We are all so much more than our labels.

So instead of trying to impress I thought I’d do what I do best and
just be me. This may not be as impressive as claiming to be an expert
at one thing or another but it’s honest and it’s real, and I’d like to start as I intend to continue. Over the coming weeks, months and years I would like to share with you a little of who I am and what I have learnt from life so far. This is not an ego trip and by no means am I claiming to be anything I’m not, but what I can tell you is that I
have led a very full unconventional life which has lead me to a place of personal transformation that is beyond words.

The reason I feel the need to share is simple. A life of learning is full of challenges and there will be times when the challenges we face are just too much to bear. It’s certainly not all sunshine and roses.

I know that too well, but I also know that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I have come through that dark tunnel myself only to realise that life is better having taken that journey. The journey of self-realisation and transformation is a journey to the depth of your soul that can only be taken alone, but it can be made a little easier with the help and guidance of some one who’s been there. That is why I would like to share some of my experiences, thoughts and knowledge.

I hope that I can make that journey just a little more bearable for those who are willing to take it. I truly believe the journey within is the most important journey we can take in this lifetime. It has changed me forever and for that I am grateful. My life will never be the same again. Not because my life has changed but because I have.

As once said by the wise ancient Chinese philosopher Laozi “The
journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.”

So this is my first step on another new journey. One of sharing and
caring, which I hope will make a difference to someone’s life. Perhaps
that someone will be you?

I’d love to hear from you,

Michelle x
